December 13th Ice Conditions

Today out on the lake I had 9 1/2 inches of ice. The bay has a little bit more with 10 1/2 to 11 inches. Back on Dec 7th the wind piled up some 6 inch ice and left us with scattered spots of open water. The bad spots on the lake by us are marked. There are spots out further and around the lake that are thin ice or still open. Everybody be careful out on the lake. Remember just because somebody says there is a foot of ice out there does not mean they know anything. The lake is not ready for vehicle traffic!

December 6th ice conditions

I checked the ice over pine island at 4:30 pm today. The spots that froze last had 5 1/4 inches of ice. Things are looking good. A small pressure crack developed in the bay today but it should not be to big of a problem. We marked a trail across 4 mile bay and over pine island. Some people are going to start fishing out in the lake tomorrow. Everybody be careful it is still early.

December 4th ice conditions

I took a snowmobile out over pine island and out to 12 1/2 feet. At that depth was some smooth ice that was open yesterday. That smooth ice had 2 inches of ice. I will check that thin ice again tomorrow and let you know what it made over night. I did not see any open water.

December 3rd Ice Conditions

We worked on cutting down the snow humps on the north side of pine island today. By the end of the day the north wind brought the ice back and we could not see any open water. We have to wait and see if it will hold.

December 1st 2011 Ice Report

Well another ice season is about to start. Today we went across the bay out to Pine Island. I took some pictures of the lake from where we cross the island. We could not see any open water from where we were at but I know there is some out there. If the strong south wind tomorrow dose not blow the ice out we will be in good shape for next week. The bay where we went across had 4 to 5 inches of ice. There is some open water in the bay so I warn everyone not to travel on the ice if you dont know where all the open spots were. Be patient and I will keep you updated.
Thank you
Brian Ney

FEB 4th FISHING REPORT

The weather was nice today with the temps in the mid 30s. The fishing last week was slow, we were out about 12 miles from pine island. We moved the fish houses in a little bit and are now from 9 to 11 miles from pine island. The fishing the last few days has been good. There is alot of saugers but the walleye action verys from day to day. Some days only a few walleye and some days lots of walleye but the action has been really good.

Jan. 13th fishing report

The fishing is better with good numbers of fish being caught. They are getting more saugers than walleye with most of the fish being caught on the bottom. People are not getting as many suspended walleyes but they are still getting some. The reason for this is those suspended walleye have moved up and people are not trying to catch them. 5 feet below the ice in 35 to 36 feet of water is a good starting depth to try to catch these fish. We have moved our houses out to 8.8 to 9.7 miles from pine island. The end of the road is about 10 1/2 miles out from pine island. Remember to watch your vexilars for those high fish that most people think is interference. Good luck fishing.

Jan 9th fishing Report

The fishing remains spotty. Our houses are from 7 to 8 miles out from pine island in about 34 feet of water. Some houses did well with limits and others were kind of slow. The saugers are being caught on the bottom and the walleye are being caught mostly suspended. Using a vexilar to target these walleyes will increase your catch on most days. If you do not have a vexilar we do have some to rent for $20 a day. We have had some good reports from 25 to 27 feet of water but this sounds spotty also. The road goes out 8 1/2 miles from pine island. We plan to extend it tommorow.
